NEW PALESTINE — Megan Jolly had a solid week, earning the New Palestine junior guard Hoosier Heritage Conference Play of the Week honors for Nov. 19 through 25.

Jolly scored 17 points, recorded eight rebounds and dished out five assists as New Palestine improved to 5-0 last week with a 60-53 victory against Perry Meridian on Nov. 25. The win marked the program’s best start in 22 years.

The team and Jolly pushed the streak to 6-0 at New Castle this past Tuesday, the program’s best start since 1993-94. Jolly led the Dragons with 13 points, five rebounds and six assists.

Marauders pluck Shamrocks

The Mt. Vernon girls basketball team handed Westfield (7-2) its second loss on the year with a 49-44 victory at home Wednesday night.

The Marauders charged out to a 17-5 lead early and overcame a 34-31 deficit heading into the fourth quarter to win.

Sophie Williams led the team with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Tessa Freeman had eight points and eight rebounds. Sydnee Perry finished with nine points and six steals.

The Marauders (3-5) host Pendleton Heights today at 1:30 p.m. to open HHC play.
