The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Oct. 4

McDonald’s

Location: 2290 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C/R – sanitizing solution is too low in wiping cloth buckets, corrected; NC/R – ice scoop cannot lay in ice, corrected; NC – must change gloves when changing tasks, corrected; NC – clean interior and tracks of cooler at drive-thru, clean rack used to store clean equipment, clean ledge in ice machine, to be corrected by Dec. 1.

Oct. 5

Hometown Classic Pizza

Location: 12 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – must hold pre-portioned blue cheese dressing and other dressings received in refrigerated state at 41 degrees or lower, corrected; C – must label spray bottles with common name of chemical, corrected; NC – must maintain in use utensils in clean to sight and touch manner or clean every four hours, clean ledge inside of ice machine to remove mold-like substance, to be corrected by Oct. 5; NC/R – repair seals on pizza prep tables, to be corrected by Jan. 1.

Location: 1136 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – some sandwiches in deli case not date-marked, corrected/food discarded; NC/R – need paper towels at hand sinks, to be corrected by Dec. 1; C/R – cheese sauce not hot enough, corrected.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill

Location: 1792 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC – clean floors under equipment in food prep area, to be corrected by Jan. 1; C/R – knife on magnetic strip had food debris, corrected.

Wal-Mart Supercenter

Location: 1965 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – case holding cream cheese too warm, corrected; NC – repair dish machine detergent alarm and wash temperature gauge, to be corrected by Dec. 1.

Papa Murphy’s Take-N-Bake Pizza

Location: 188 E. New Road, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Aldi’s

Location: 1780 Muskegon Lane, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

NC/R – ice build-up around door of walk-in freezer, repair/replace degrading door, to be corrected by Jan. 1.

Casey’s General Store

Location: 1133 E. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – expired Landshire sandwiches, corrected.

Violations: C – roller grill closest to pop machine not keeping food at temperature, corrected.

Huck’s Convenience Food & Fuel

Location: 322 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – cooking utensils, food containers, etc., need to be washed, rinsed and sanitized, corrected; NC – sanitizer test strips need to be provided and used, to be corrected by Nov. 1; C – expired milk in cooler, NC – ice scoop needs to be stored in protected manner, to be corrected by Nov. 1.
