Elizabeth “Pat” (Atkinson) Brand, 89, of Avon, passed away peacefully November 25, 2017, surrounded by family. She was born on February 2, 1928, in Bloomington, IN, as the daughter of Joshua N. and Josie O. (Burch) Davis. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1946.
She worked for Ging, Free, Brand, Tosick, & VanWinkle Law Office of Greenfield as a legal secretary for over 10 years. For 20 years, Pat assisted her husband in running Byrne Pharmacy in Greenfield as well. She was formerly a member of Bradley United Methodist Church and a past member of the Riley Gardening Club. She loved gardening, knitting, and spending time with family.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Stevens of Westfield, IN, Jeanne Hunt of Danville, IN, and Mary Beth Nance of Avon, IN; brothers, Ross Davis of Iowa and Jim Davis of Texas; sisters, Helen Bennett of Pennsylvania and Ruby Patton of Ohio; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua and Josie Davis; husbands, Jack Byrne and John Brand; sister, Katie Davis; brother, Dick Davis; daughter, Janice Atkinson; and 2 grandsons, Ryan Stevens and Chris Luthy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN, 46140. A memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 2:30 p.m. also at the mortuary. Pastor Larry Kurtz will be officiating. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield at a later date.
