The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Violations: C – must date-mark lunch meat package when opened, cannot exceed seven days, to be corrected by Oct. 3; C/R – dish machine is not dispensing sanitizer, to be corrected by Oct. 10; NC – repair/replace light bulbs in kitchen; NC – repair/replace water-damaged floor near ice machine; NC – hood over grill needs to be cleaned to remove build-up and fuzzies, wall behind and next to grill area needs to be cleaned, to be correct by Jan. 1.

Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant

Location: 1550 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC/R – protect ice scoop from contamination, need tongs for lemons, etc., corrected; NC – clean containers storing chips as often as necessary to be clean to sight and touch, to be corrected by Oct. 15; NC – need sanitizing test strips for dish machine and three-compartment sink, to be corrected by Oct. 15.

Ben’s Soft Pretzels

Location: 1965 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C/R – need to have employee health policy, to be corrected by Oct. 10; NC – build up of debris along edges under equipment, around legs of equipment on floor where pretzels are made, to be corrected by Dec. 1.
