Hancock County Extension Homemakers wish to thank the following people who contributed to the success and pleasure of the 2017 Riley Festival Home Arts and Quilt Show:
The Hancock County commissioners, Brad Armstrong, Marc Huber and John Jessup, for permitting the 2017 show to take over their meeting room for five days. It is a wonderful area that allows complete access for all to enjoy the amazing and unique items on display and is especially appreciated by visitors who may be physically challenged.
The show’s entrants — 79 seniors and seven juniors — who shared their talents through the more than 189 items on display during the show. Please keep the 2018 show in mind as you work on winter projects and 4-H projects for the fair. We can always find space for more.
Tom Billings, past festival president, for the extremely effective shelf/pegboard display units he built for the show earlier.
Jim McWhinney, parks department, and his crew for transporting and assembling large quilt display racks, shelving-peg board units, tables and especially the three large glass display cases used during the show — and for returning Sunday evening to take everything down and return it to storage for next year.
Common Threads Quilt Guild members who volunteered their time during the lengthy judging process Wednesday, returning the following morning to expertly and lovingly hang and display the many beautiful quilts that were entered. Once again, Sunday afternoon, they were available to assist in taking down displays and releasing exhibits. Their help is truly invaluable. Thank you, ladies, so very much.
Lastly, and certainly not least, the Hancock County Extension Homemakers members, including Mailbox Members, who helped with registration and accepting exhibits; those who assisted judges to complete the enormous chore of judging all entries; the display crew ladies who arranged the many entries into the attractive displays viewed by the public; those who gave their time during festival hours while the show was open to greet visitors and answer questions; and finally, everyone who returned Sunday afternoon to help with releasing exhibits and cleaning up afterward.
Thank you to everyone who gave their time, talents and service that contributed to the success of the 2017 Home Arts and Quilt Show. It takes all of us to make it work. We are honored and thankful to have the support of all involved.
