Library booster organization plans annual sale

GREENFIELD — The Friends of the Hancock County Public Library will hold its gently used book sale from Nov. 16-20 at library’s main branch. The Friends also offer audio books, DVDs and CDs.

A members-only preview sale is available from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 16. Walk-ins can join the organization for $15 and shop the preview that night. Those interested can pick up a membership form across from the library circulation desk.

The sale opens to the public 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 18; and 1 to 3:45 p.m. Nov. 19.

Most hardbacks cost a dollar, and paperbacks cost 50 cents. Children’s books are 50 cents and 25 cents. DVDs, CDs and audio books are $1.

Bargain day is 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 20. A standard paper grocery bag full of books sells for $3, a plastic grocery bag for $2.

The Friends of the Hancock County Public Library is a membership-supported nonprofit organization raising money for the library through the sale of donated books and other media.

The Friends group was established in 1979 and since that time has raised money to cover the costs of cultural events, library equipment and reading incentives.

Proceeds fund free concerts and children’s special events.
