Robert Leon “Bob” Crist, 89, of New Palestine, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017. He was born on October 7, 1928 in Clay County, IN as the son of Everett W. and Lottie Viola (McCullough) Crist.
He graduated from Coalmont High School in 1947. Bob served in the U.S. Army during 1950-1952 and was stationed in Korea. He married Patricia Ann (Lucas) on May 15, 1954 in Sandborn, IN.
He worked for Indiana Gear Works as a machinist and tool maker for over 30 years before retiring. Bob had been a member of the American Legion Post in Greenfield. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing blackjack, reading and discussing current affairs. Robert adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would enjoy any moment he could spend with them.
Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia Crist of New Palestine; children, John Alan Crist of Naples, FL, Ron (Sheena) Crist of New Palestine and Ronda (Marty Stum) Crist of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, Virgil Crist of Illinois; sisters, Irene Richmond of Kokomo, Lois (Freeman) Smith of Glenwood, Janice Burger of Jasonville, IN and Shirley (Jim) Smith of Coalmont, IN; five grandchildren, Rob Crist, Bill (Emily) Crist, Nicole (Johnny) Martin, Natalie Crist and Vita Crist; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Viola Crist.
Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will immediately follow the gathering at 2:30 p.m.
