Dale Eugene Harden,77, of New Palestine, IN passed away surrounded by loved ones Friday, October 6, 2017, at St Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Born in Detroit, Michigan on July 27, 1940 to the late Lawrence and Madeline (Myers) Harden.

Dale graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis. He retired from the Kroger Co as transportation manager after 27 years of service. He also retired from Meijer after 10 years in management. From 1987 to 1996 he and his wife owned and operated The Harden House Restaurant.

For more than 15 years he volunteered at Wheeler Mission, Shepherd Community and Neighborhood Fellowship. The Sunday school kids at His Place will always remember him for his quote “Guess what?”

Unselfish man that he was, he donated his body to IU School of Medicine to further help people.

Dale married Sharon (Moore-Dunn) Harden on January 24, 1986. He loved spending time with his family, helping/working at his church, volunteering, fishing and watching the Colts. He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa. He was a member of New Palestine United Church in New Palestine and loved spreading his love for Christ.

Surviving Dale is his wife, Sharon; son, Dale II; daughters, Carrie and Christine; stepsons, Jason and Jeff Dunn; 5 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Three sisters, Diane Olson, Linda Greer and Bonnie Harden. Many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Preceding Dale in death are his parents; first wife, Carol Duzan; brothers, Don and Neil Harden.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 4 at 1 p.m.. Condolences are from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. prior to service at New Palestine United Church-His Place, 15 E. Main St., New Palestine. Pastor Rick Moreland will officiate service.

Memorial contribution, in memory of Dale, may be sent to New Palestine United Church.
