The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Aug. 2

Los Agaves Grill

Location: 5965 W. Broadway St., McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — sanitizing solution is too strong in sanitation buckets, dish machine is sanitizing too low, corrected.

Pilot Travel Center

Location: 2640 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Pizza Hut

Location: 2640 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Strike Force Lanes

Location: 1539 W. Main St., Greenfield

Aug. 3

Subway — Wal-Mart

Location: 1965 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — the owner or operator shall have a person-in-charge present at all times, to be corrected by Aug. 14; C — need to have employee health policy and needs to be reviewed periodically with all staff, corrected; C — employee drinks must be stored away from clean utensils/equipment and must have a lid, corrected; C — utensils must be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day at least every four hours, to be corrected by Aug. 3.

Firehouse Subs

Location: 22 E. McClarnon Drive, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — must sanitize all food contact surfaces including cutting boards after washing and rinsing, corrected.

Ro’s Bar and Grill

Location: 1514 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — hand sink is blocked, hand sink must be available at all times for hand-washing, corrected; C — raw meats over individual dressing cups in refrigerator, corrected; NC — do not use cup to dispense ice, if scoop is not available use something with a handle, corrected.

Aug. 4

Dairy Queen

Location: 801 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — all touch points in kitchen need to be treated as food contact surfaces — sanitize every four hours, corrected; NC/R — gap at back exterior door, replace/repair to seal door properly, to be corrected by Nov. 1; NC/R — flooring outside of freezer needs to be repaired for cleanability, to be corrected by Nov. 1.

Aug. 5

Central Indiana Gun Show

Location: P.O. Box 32, Centerville (Hancock County Fairgrounds)

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — need to have managers’ certifications, not food handlers, to be corrected by next show in October.

Berry Goods Farm

Location: 7192 E. County Road 600S, Morristown

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — provide thermometers in coolers where chicken and eggs are stored, to be corrected by Sept. 1.
