CICERO
Michael Sheridan Karnes, Sr., 79, of Cicero, IN, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at Harcourt Terrace. He was born on 10, February 1938 in Fowlerton, IN as the son of James and Zora (Wilson) Karnes.
He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1956 and attended college at Purdue University. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. He married Roberta (Anderson) Karnes on November 3, 1979 in Indianapolis.
He worked for IBM as a field engineer for 25 years before retiring in 1993. Michael was a member of the Hancock County Masonic Lodge #101. He was a very dedicated bible student and enjoyed reading the bible. He also enjoyed working outdoors, laughing, and spending time with family.
Michael is survived by his wife, Roberta Karnes of Cicero; children, Michael Sheridan (Glenda) Karnes, Jr., of Greenfield, Beth Ann (David) Huffman of Knightstown, and David (Julie) Karnes of Evanston, IL; step-daughters, Jolinda (Joseph) Ross of Indianapolis and Paula (Jack) Dempsey of Creve Coeur, MO; grandchildren, Michael Sheridan (Melissa) Karnes III of Greenfield, Rachel McCaffery of North Judson, IN, and Laura McCaffery of Indianapolis, Emory, Augustus, Reese, and Alexandra Karnes of Evanston, IL and Amanda Greene of Greenfield; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Karnes, with another great-grandchild on the way; and grand-dog, Theodore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Zora Karnes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Masonic Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following. Military rites will be provided by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Berean Bible Institute, 116 Kettle Moraine Dr. South, Slinger, WI 53086, or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
