Donald L. Davis, 76 of Greenfield passed away October 3, 2017 at Hancock Regional Hospice. He was born April 12, 1941 in Mingo Junction, Ohio to the late George E. Davis & Gladys (Jones) Davis – Plavka.

Don worked for Tri-State Erection & Demolition Company, in Ohio; Federal Paper Board Company in Pennsylvania; Roll Coater in Greenfield as Plant Manager and Vice President of Claims. After working for 35 years Don retired at the age of 57.

Don impacted many lives with his quick sense of wit and off the wall comments.

He lived life to the fullest and had a smile that was contagious and unforgettable. He enjoyed having fun at karaoke parties, singing and dancing at “The Barn”, playing golf & softball (which he did until the age of 62), and watching all sports. He was an avid fan of IU Basketball, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Cubs & Chicago Bears. He started an annual softball competition between Roll Coaters Greenfield and Roll Coaters Kingsbury, with the old open bucket.

Don loved spending time with his grandkids, telling stories, joking, giving advice and attending sporting events. He promised his granddaughters Megan & Chloe at age 21 he would take them to Vegas. He will be there in spirit.

Don is survived by his wife Carolyn “Sue” Davis whom he married November 21, 1964. Sons, Scott (Jennifer) Davis of Granger, Indiana, Shawn (Lynn) Davis of Rochester, Mi, Shanin Davis of Las Vegas, D.J. (Heather) Davis of Greenfield; 7 Grandchildren, Dylan, Chloe, Megan, Nate, Brendan, Kevin & Ryan. Sisters; Virginia Cale of Kansas, Margaret (Chuck) Chase of Berghloz, OH; Brother-in-Law George Plavka of Greenfield 32 nieces and nephews, 15 Great nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Mary Lou (Frank) Adams, Anna Mae(Homer) Richard, Marlene Plavka & brother, William Davis, brother-in-law, Bill Cale, nieces, Cathy, Ashley and nephews; Earl and David.

Friends may call from 2-6 pm, Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main St., Greenfield, Indiana 46140. Funeral will be 10 am, Monday, October 9th at the funeral home. Burial with military rites provided by Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard immediately following at Philadelphia Cemetery.
