FORTVILLE — Academics aren’t the only aspect taught at the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation. Philanthropy, kindness and reaching out to those in need are some of the other lessons that students are taught in Mt. Vernon Schools from early childhood to graduation.

When Hurricane Harvey struck Texas and devastated the homes and lives of the many people living there, all the Mt. Vernon schools partnered with Midwest Food Bank, the Salvation Army and other Hancock County schools in collecting donations for the victims of the storms.

The district provides tools and opportunities throughout each student’s school career to help develop good citizenship and set a good example for helping those in need.
