Greenfield-Central drama goes wild with “The Jungle Book”

GREENFIELD — Greenfield-Central High School thespian troupe 2691 presents “The Jungle Book” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium at Greenfield-Central High School, 810 N. Broadway. “The Jungle Book,” based on the classic novel by Rudyard Kipling, tells the story of Mowgli’s adventures in the Indian jungle, as he grows up raised by wolves and communicating with all the jungle animals. R-rated courtroom drama plays out on Buck Creek’s stage

INDIANAPOLIS – Set in a courtroom in New York’s Bellevue Hospital, the story follows the journey of a high-priced call girl jailed on a charge of killing a violent client. The State says Claudia Faith Draper is unfit to stand trial. As testimony from experts, physicians and her parents unfolds, can she prove to the judge that she is sane enough to stand trial for manslaughter? As the inspiration for the 1987 film starring Barbra Streisand and Richard Dreyfus, “Nuts” has been called the best courtroom melodrama since “Witness for the Prosecution” and “The Caine Mutiny Court Martial.” The show opens Friday at the Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Ave, and runs through Oct. 8. Nunnery provides unlikely hide-out in “Sister Act”

INDIANAPOLIS — Disco diva Deloris Van Cartier has witnessed a murder. So she hides out in the one place she won’t be found — a convent. Mystery writers collaborate on a master work in “Done to Death” at the Belfry

NOBLESVILLE — Five has-been mystery writers convene at the Vulture’s Vault to collaborate on writing a new mystery series for television. Characters based on Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple, Dashiell Hammett’s Nick and Nora Charles and Ian Fleming of James Bond fame. The show opens at the Belfry, 10690 Greenfield Ave. and plays through Oct. 6.
