St. John United to serve free dinner

CUMBERLAND — St. John United Church of Christ, 11910 E. Prospect St., will serve dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Everyone is welcome.

Revival services begin at Oak Baptist

WARRINGTON — Righteous Oaks Baptist Church, 8356 N. State Road 109 north of Wilkinson, will have revival services with Riffet Ministries at 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Services continue at 7 p.m. nightly Monday through Wednesday.

Farmer featured in ‘Food Inc.’ to speak

NEW PALESTINE — Joel Salatin, a farmer who speaks about organic farming, eating and creation care, will speak at 2 p.m. Sept. 23 at the New Palestine High School auditorium

The event will be free and open to the public. Salatin was featured in the documentary “Food Inc.” and in the book “The Omnivore’s Dilemma.”

Curry’s Chapel Homecoming set

GREENFIELD — Curry’s Chapel United Methodist Church will celebrate Homecoming during a service at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 24 at the church, 3488 N. County Road 375E. A pitch-in meal will follow the service.

Block party features game truck, food

MT. COMFORT — Harvest Church will celebrate 10 years of ministry with a free block party open to everyone from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the church, 6107 W. Airport Blvd., across from Indianapolis Regional Airport in Mt. Comfort.

It will feature free food, live music, games, a petting zoo, bounce houses, giveaways and the Elite Game Truck, where dozens of children can play a wide assortment of big-screen video games at the same time.

Quartet performing at Mt. Lebanon

GREENFIELD — Blessed Truth Gospel Quartet will perform during part of the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3447 S. State Road 9, Greenfield.

Blessed Truth is made up of Richard Luke from Greenfield, Norm Sill from Lebanon, Ralph Calvert of Avon and Jim Thompson of Zionsville.

Celebration to mark building’s 50th year

NEW PALESTINE —New Palestine United Methodist Church will soon celebrate 50 years at its current location and the 10-year anniversary of the church’s Community Ministry Center.

To mark this milestone in the church’s history, which stretches back to a group meeting in a log cabin in 1830, the church plans a celebration for the weekend of Sept. 30 to Oct. 1.

On Sept. 30, festivities include three bounce houses, relay races, bingo, a hog roast, face painting, balloon animals and a rock concert by Quest Christian Band.

On Oct. 1, the church will celebrate World Communion Day with a combined 10 a.m. service.
