Gibson collects third straight win
Greenfield-Central graduate Kyle Gibson threw six scoreless innings for the Minnesota Twins on Saturday to earn his third consecutive win.
Gibson scattered five hits, struck out five and didn’t walk a single batter as the Twins’ offense rolled the visiting Kansas City Royals 17-0.
The win improved Gibson’s season record to 9-10 and lowered his season ERA to 5.33 through 128.1 innings pitched. He has 95 strikeouts on the year.
Gibson posted a 3.90 ERA in five starts in August and has recorded three straight quality starts for the first time since July 2015.

Rossi wins at Watkins Glen as championship tightens
Alexander Rossi completed a dream weekend with a win in the INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen. Josef Newgarden endured a nightmare incident in the race that leaves the IndyCar Series championship battle wide open for the 12th straight year heading to the season finale.
Rossi won the 60-lap race at Watkins Glen International from the pole position. The 25-year-old Californian led a race-high 32 laps and drove across the finish line 0.9514 of a second ahead of four-time Watkins Glen winner Scott Dixon.
