Southern Hancock schools host event to combat bullying

NEW PALESTINE — Southern Hancock schools will host the Run, Walk, Roll for Unity Against Bullying Sept. 9. Registration to participate and receive a t-shirt is $5 for students and $10 for adults.

The day of the events, participants should park at New Palestine High School, 4485 S. Victory Drive. The one-mile walk starts from the high school. Those participating in the 4.5-mile walk will be transported by bus to Doe Creek Middle School.

On site registration begins at 7 a.m. Buses will leave the high school for the middle school at 8:30 a.m. The walking events start at 9 a.m.

Following the walk, the Lions Club will host a parade. Those wishing to participate in the parade should meet at the administration building at 4711 S. County Road 500W.

The Run, Walk, Roll for Unity Against Bullying event came about as a result of legislation for a bullying prevention curriculum. Any proceeds garnered from the event are distributed to the schools to use for encouraging positive behavior.
