Auditions for adults and children for ‘Little Things’ ballet

GREENFIELD — Dance East Ballet Academy will hold open auditions for its annual production of the original ballet “Little Things” from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 2. Adult roles to be cast include a mother, father, a grandmother and the magician, Brockenbecker. No dance experience is necessary to perform the family folk dance and pantomime; acting experience is preferred but not required. Children’s roles include gremlins, spiderwebs and angels. The role of the Evil Queen is also open to auditioners with dance experience. Rehearsals will be Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Depending on the role, not all performers are needed at every rehearsal. Performances are Dec. 2 and 3 at the Ricks Centre. For more information, call Dana Hart at 317-318-9266.

Caramel Apple Fest to include caramel apple baking competition

GREENFIELD – As part of Tuttle Orchard’s Sept. 9 Caramel Apple Fest, cooks and bakers can enter the caramel apple baking competition. Entries are due at Tuttle Orchards, 5717 N. County Road 300W between 10 and 11 a.m. the day of the contest. Judging will take place between 11 and 11:30 a.m. The top three caramel apples will receive Tuttle Orchards gift cards. Hancock County Herb Society meets to discuss passion flower

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Herb Society will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Patricia Elmore Center, 120 N. Apple St. This month’s topic, presented by master gardener and naturalist Judy Laird, is the passion flower, how it got its name, its many uses and some of the quirks of this plant.
