The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

June 8

K-Dog’s Pizza and Chicken

Location: 207 S. Main St., Shirley

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Ben’s Friendly Bar

Location: 307 Railroad St., Shirley

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C — raw sausage should be stored in a closed/seal container below ready-to-eat and breading, raw meat juices have accumulated on bottom shelf of sandwich prep unit, to be corrected by June 8; C — ham scraps must be date-marked with a maximum of seven days from first opened day, corrected/discarded; C — ice cream/smoothie mix has exceeded date mark, corrected/discarded; NC — back door/screen door has gap, need to repair to prevent pests, window in dry storage unit needs to have screen to prevent pests entering the premises, to be corrected by Sept. 1.

June 9

Aramak at Covance

Location: 2001 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC — ice buckets need to be stored in manner to protect rim/food contact surface from contamination, to be corrected by Sept. 1; NC — clean door handles and drawer pulls to remove build-up, to be corrected by Sept. 1.

June 13

Florida Cracker BBQ

Location: 812 S. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC/R — clean fry baskets, side of frying equipment, sides of hot hold units/warmers, coolers/refrigerators interiors and gaskets, to be corrected by Sept. 1; NC — need sweep at screen kitchen door to prevent pests/remove gap, to be corrected by Sept. 1; NC — RFP board is coming away from wall behind kitchen entrance door, to be corrected by Sept. 1; NC/R — clean wall behind hot hold/warmers, fryers and wall below hand-washing sink, to be corrected on Sept. 1.

Circle K

Location: 1136 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C/R — chili and cheese sauce not hot enough, corrected; C/R — expired Landshire sandwiches and burrito, corrected; C — utensil/tong at roller foods must be cleaned and sanitized every four hours, to be corrected by June 13; NC — paper towels must be provided at all hand-washing sinks, corrected; C — sanitizing solution in spray bottles is testing at high concentration, corrected.

Griggsby’s Station

Location: 101 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C — must label chemical stored in working container spray bottle, corrected.
