Restaurant Inspections – August 25

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

June 2

Aldi, Inc.

Location: 1780 Muskegon Lane, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — ice build-up around door of walk-in freezer, possible seals need replaced, to be corrected by Oct. 1.

Pizza Hut

Location: 5971 U.S. 52 West, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

June 5

Family Fun and Fitness

Location: 5151 U.S. 40 West, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — date-marking yogurt smoothies mix after opened — good for maximum of seven days, civil penalties may apply, corrected; C — yogurt smoothies mix exceeded date mark of maximum of seven days, corrected; C — need to have chemical sanitizer used for sanitizing solution on premises and used, to be corrected by June 5.

Mozzi’s Pizza

Location: 18 W Main St., New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — always wash hands after handling personal drinks and before handling food contact surfaces, corrected; C — clean interior of ice machine including ice shoot to remove mold-like substance, to be corrected by June 6; NC — clean door handles of all refrigeration units to remove build-up and residue, to be corrected by Sept. 1.

Violations found: C — expired sandwiches in reach-in cooler, to be corrected.

Location: 1618 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC/R — need to clean pizza prep cooler/table handles to remove build-up, to be corrected by Sept. 1; NC — need to provide paper towels at hand sink, corrected; NC — light fixtures above/near three-compartment sink have burned-out bulbs and flickering bulbs that are not working properly, to be corrected by Sept. 1.
