Tunney D. Osborne, 89, of Fountaintown, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on August 16, 1928 in Louisa, Kentucky as the son of Noll and Nola (Borders) Osborne.
Tunney graduated from Logan High School in Logan, West Virginia in 1946 and attended Purdue University. He served in the Army during World War II. Tunney married Ila (Martin) on May 14, 1955 in Logan County, West Virginia.
He worked for International Harvester – Navistar as an Industrial Electrician for over 25 years before retiring in 1986. Tunney loved farming, baling hay, water skiing, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Tunney is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ila Osborne of Fountaintown; children, Leigh Annette (Danny Hedger) Turner of New Palestine, Paul Tunney (Lisa) Osborne of Morristown and David Noll (Vickie) Osborne of Greenfield; 12 grandchildren, Christopher (Elizabeth) Lovelace, Thomas (Ariel) Turner, Joshua Martin (Mercy) Turner, Scott Tunney (Sarah) Turner, Corey (Tasha) Osborne, Christopher (Amy) Osborne, Caleb (Kristina) Osborne, Colin Osborne, Connor Osborne, Stephanie Osborne, Dr. Jennifer (Josh) Simmons and Melissa Osborne; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noll and Nola Osborne; sisters, Betty Jean Pippin and Barbara Louise Osborne.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the mortuary. Pastor Greg Ruble will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fountaintown Cemetery in Fountaintown, IN.
