Sondra S. Dooley, 72, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at I.U. Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born May 2, 1945 in Terre Haute, a daughter of the late Ernest and Imogene (Graves) Thompson.

A graduate of Gerstmeyer Technical School in Terre Haute, she received her Masters Degree in Business Education from Indiana State University. She taught at the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home for 40 years. She was a member of the Spiceland Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association. Sondra enjoyed knitting, growing flowers, traveling with family and friends, and working with children’s activities, especially with her nieces and nephews.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 51 years, Eston Dooley of Greenfield, whom she married August 27, 1966; sister, Linda (Charles) Stroud of Spiceland; sister-in-law, Jackie Thompson of Noblesville; aunt, Lillian Graves of Centerpoint; cousin, Carl Graves of Centerpoint; nieces and nephews, Scott (Allison) Stroud of Lewisville, Marcia (Stephen) Landon of Cambridge City, Doug Stroud of New Castle, Kent (Danielle) Stroud of North Vernon, Dustin Thompson of Noblesville; great nieces and nephews, Brooke, Austin, Lauren, Grace, Dyln, Gunnar, Lucy, Drew, Zoe, Noah, Jonah, Lilliana, and Linkoln.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Thompson, and a great niece, Emily Stroud.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Alan Southerland and Rev. Steve Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
