Festival coming to Heather Hills

CUMBERLAND — Heather Hills Baptist Church’s annual community Family Fun Festival is set for noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 26 at the church, 1421 N. German Church Road, Indianapolis. This is a free event.

Seminar offers big-picture view

FORTVILLE — New Life Christian Fellowship will play host to a two-part session of “Walk Thru the Bible — Old Testament” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and 9 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26.

This is an event for elementary school-age children through adults. All will be together to learn the motions and history; then they will break into a children’s group, teen group, and adult group to look at how to apply what was learned. The fee to participate is $10 per person, with a maximum $20 out-of-pocket per family.

Quartet performing at Mt. Lebanon

GREENFIELD — Blessed Truth Gospel Quartet will perform during part of the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 17 at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3447 S. State Road 9, Greenfield.

Blessed Truth is made up of Richard Luke from Greenfield, Norm Sill from Lebanon, Ralph Calvert of Avon and Jim Thompson of Zionsville. Combined, Blessed Truth members have 144 years of experience in the gospel music industry.

Awards include being named No. 1 group in the Gospel Music Association in Indiana in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.

An offering will be taken at the close of the service.

Hoosier Luau returning to church

GREENFIELD — The sixth-annual Hoosier Luau and classic car cruise-in are planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at Greenfield Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 23 N. East St.

Plans include a pulled pork dinner with baked beans, chips, drinks and ice cream. Music, bounce houses, a dunk tank, face painting, a disc jockey and more. Representatives of Greenfield Police Department and Greenfield Fire Department will be on hand to show their vehicles and equipment.

New and gently used twin-size blankets will be collected for homeless shelters. Canned food will be gathered for area food pantries.

This is a free event; donations will be accepted.

Touch A Truck returns for kids at Harvest

MT. COMFORT — Harvest Church’s fourth annual Touch A Truck event is set for noon to 2 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 19). This is a free, family-friendly event for the community, with free food, face-painting, crafts, games and trucks/tractors to explore.

There will be many trucks and tractors on display. Kids can climb aboard, honk the horns, sit in the driver’s seat and more. This event will take place at the church, 6107 W. Airport Blvd. in Mt. Comfort (across from Indianapolis Regional Airport).

Mt. Lebanon church plans annual fish fry

GREENFIELD — Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3447 S. State Road 9, will serve its annual fish fry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 19).

The menu will include fried fish, fries, hush puppies, baked beans, slaw, desserts and beverages. Hot dogs and carry-out also will be available. Donations will be accepted, with proceeds used for missions and special projects.

YouTube stars coming for dinner

CARTHAGE — Danny and Kristin Adams, the couple behind the online “Laughter is the Best Medicine” videos, will be featured at a dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 19) at Carthage Community Church.

Harvest of Talents to help feed hungry

FORTVILLE — Harvest of Talents is set for 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Fortville Christian Church, 9450 N. County Road 200W, Fortville.

Visitors can shop from various craft and decor items. A silent auction will feature donations from local businesses, such as an oil change or restaurant gift certificates.

All money raised will go to hunger relief programs through International Disaster Emergency Service.

Food available for donations includes biscuits and gravy at 9 a.m., walking tacos at 10:30 a.m., and pulled pork sandwiches from noon to 1:30 p.m.

A live auction begins at 2 p.m. Items available for bidding include an autographed Indianapolis Colts football, a queen-size handmade quilt, a quilting frame, an antique trunk, two antique desks, a one-night hotel stay and breakfast for two, a set of china, an American flag made from pallets, six collector dolls, two handmade wooden trivets, Brookie’s Cookies, several handmade signs and paintings, and several other items.
