GREENFIELD — Members of the Hancock County’s SWAT team surrounded a Greenfield motel Friday afternoon while attempting to serve an arrest warrant in a case out of Decatur County.

Local police were assisting members of the Greensburg Police Department with an ongoing investigation when they surrounded the Shamrock Motel, located in the 5200 block of West U.S. 40, Friday afternoon, police said.

Two people found inside a room at the motel were arrested, police said. Their names and information about the charges they face were not released. Both were arrested without incident, officers said.

Because of heavy police presence in the area, Hancock County sheriff’s deputies closed a mile stretch of U.S. 40 near the motel just before 5 p.m. The highway, between county roads 500W and 600W, was shut down for about 30 minutes while SWAT members cleared the area.

No other information was available at press time.
