FORTVILLE – A Michigan man is in the Hancock County Jail amid allegations he tried to use a stolen credit card at a store in Fortville.

De’Andrae Hunt, 20, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, was booked into the jail Tuesday on charges of counterfeiting, fraud and identity deception, according to jail records.

Police say Hunt went to the Dollar General in Fortville on Tuesday afternoon and tried to make a purchase using a stolen credit card. He fled the store and an employee called 911, giving dispatchers a description of the suspect, the vehicle he left in and direction he was heading.

Fortville Police Department officers stopped the car and spoke with the driver, later identified as Hunt, officials said. Inside the car, officers found several stolen credit card numbers and counterfeit credit cards, police said.

Hunt remained in the Hancock County Jail without bond at press time.
