James L. Markley, 73, of Fountaintown, passed away on August 13, 2017, at Golden Living Center Brandywine in Greenfield.

James was born in Shelbyville on September 14, 1943, the son of Forest L. and J. Irene (Sparks) Markley.

He married Rachel E. Eninger on June 15, 1968, and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, James M. Markley and Jarrod L. Markley of Fountaintown, and one brother, Ronald (wife, Carla) Markley of Shelbyville.

Mr. Markley is also survived by a grandson, James Gunner Markley; a grand-daughter, Ashley Hankins; special friend and daughter-in-law, Robin Markley. Special care givers, Marie, Diana & Tina are remembered too.

James was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Charlotte and Juanita.

A lifetime resident of Shelbyville he graduated in 1961 from SHS and worked at Knauf Fiberglass. He was a member of the Brandywine Community Church and a former member of Shelby Shifters,

Brandywine Cruisers and the ISRA.

James served is country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed drag racing, car shows and most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at the Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd., Shelbyville.

Funeral Services are Thursday, August 17th at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery.
