Library book sale this weekend

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, kicks off its quarterly book sale tonight with a Friends of the Library members only preview from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The sale opens to the public Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 3:45 p.m. Monday is Book Sale Bargain day, where books go for $2 a plastic grocery bag and $3 a paper grocery bag. Circle City Ringers bell group chimes at library

GREENFIELD – The Circle City Bell Ringers bring their expertise of English hand bell music to the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road at 7 p.m. August 17.  The Ringers’ performance features a range of choreographed melodies from “Capriccio” to “Dueling Banjos.” The group is a community ensemble from the Indianapolis area and part of the Handbell Musicians of America. Local historian to sign new book

GREENFIELD — Local historian and author Joe Skvarenina will sign copies of his new book from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Daily Reporter, 22 W. New Road. The book, “Nature’s Gift for All to Enjoy,” chronicles the development of the Nameless Creek Youth Camp with the help of Tubby Toms. McCordsville Path to Fitness 5K set for Aug. 19

McCORDSVILLE — The third annual McCordsville Path to Fitness 5K gets underway at 8 a.m. Aug. 19. Included in the event is a one-mile family fun run starting at and returning to the Hancock Regional/Hancock Wellness Center parking lot, 8505 N. Clearview Dr. The event will be chipped and timed.
