FORTVILLE

LeRoy C. Papaw Lane, 79, of Fortville, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 to the sounds of his family’s singing (however off key) with a ruby red cardinal outside his window and a belly full of rhubarb pie.

Papaw Lane knew everything there was to know about life and how to live it. Never hesitate to sing your heart out, Take time to watch the birds, and Always, always, always eat your desert first. His words were few but his wisdom will live on in the lives of many.

LeRoy was a U. S. Army Veteran and member of the Cicero American Legion Post 341. He had been in route sales for many years and was a member of the Huntsville Good Shepherd Church.

An avid euchre player and devoted smotherer of fried chicken with mashed potatoes and creamed corn, Papaw was likewise passionate about his perfectly broken-in position on the front porch of his Fortville home. He loved holding babies, cruising to CVS and guessing the survey responses on Family Feud. He was spoiled rotten by the many women in his life – but there was no one more deserving of their unrelenting love.

LeRoy is survived by Wife Belinda (McKinney) Lane, whom he married, August 26, 1971; son: Walter (Lisa) Williams of Anderson and Tamara (Mike) Carper of Prosper, TX; grandchildren: Nichel (Landin) Henson; Lindy Keyser; Kayla (Garret) Creason; Bear (Jazz) Carper; Annabelle Carper; great-grandchildren: Peighton Keyser; Charli Henson; Berkeley Carper; Eveleyn Henson; sisters: Mary (Jerry) Mangas; Linda (David) Bitner and Vicky Carnely; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Dough Williams, brother Mike Lane and sisters Jean and Cheri Lane.

A celebration of LeRoy’s life will take place on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville where friends may call from 5:00 pm until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 50 E. 91st Street Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830 or the American Diabetes Association 8604 Allisonville Road Suite 140 Indianapolis, IN 46250.
