Marilyn (Walter) Gossett, 92 of Greenfield, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Legacy at Springhurst in Greenfield. She was born on August 28, 1924 in Pittsboro, IN to the late C. H. & Myrtle (Ragsdale) Walter.

Marilyn married the love of her life, Dr. Franklin O. Gossett on May 4, 1946. She attended Central Normal College in Danville. Marilyn was an active member of Greenfield Christian Church serving during her time as a founding member of Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was very active in Boy Scouts of America serving as a Den Mother 3 times, 4-H with her children, past President of Auxiliary to Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, Extension Homemakers, and volunteered over 20,000 hours at Hancock Regional Hospital.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was always open to friends and family. She was a continual source of encouragement to her family for athletics, 4-H, music, and theater.

Surviving Marilyn are her sons, Larry (Lori) Gossett of Greenfield; Mark (Margaret) Gossett of Half Moon Bay, CA; daughters, Susan (Roger) Butler of Frankfort; Carol (Rick) Thorne of Fishers; daughter-in-law, Diane Gossett of Wallingford, PA; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Marilyn in death are her parents mentioned above; husband, Dr. Franklin O. Gossett; her 10 brothers and sisters; daughter-in-law, Barbara G. Gossett; and son, Dr. Kent A. Gossett.

Friends may visit from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East St., Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the church with Pastor Frank Everett from Greenfield Christian Church officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
