Mary Jane (Hill, Hagglund) Grier, 88, of Greenfield, passed away July 19th after a brief illness. She was born on September 15, 1928, in Frankfort, Indiana, to Jason Byford Hill of Seymour and Ruby Mae (Davis) Hill of Washington Township in Jackson County.

She grew up in Indianapolis, where she graduated from Howe High School, and attended Butler University studying Dramatic Arts. In her youth she worked as a model, and later in doctors offices and a flower shop. After a long career as a wife, mother, and homemaker, she served as the Mayors secretary in Greenfield, and held this position for 20 years. She attended Bradley Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her favorite grandparent Mary Melvina (Tanner) Davis, her first husband Leland Eugene (Lee) Hagglund of Iowa, her parents, her brother Arnold Hill, sister Alma Lee (Hill) Watson, second husband Dr. Robert N. (Bud) Grier (formerly of West Virginia), dear companion Keith McClarnon, and nephew Steven Hill.

She is survived by her sons Leif Hagglund and Jay Grier, grandson Dakota Grier, nieces Melinda (Watson) Medina and Nancy (Watson) Moorman, nephews Richard (Dickey) Grier and Tomas Grier, and grand nieces and nephews.

An informal gathering of family and friends will be held in her honor on August 12th at The Venue on Park Avenue; 211 W Park Ave, in Greenfield. Arrival may begin at 1 p.m. in the afternoon with eulogy/remembrance celebration beginning at 2 p.m. Please come as you are.
