Eva Jean “Jeannie” (Polston) Sweet, 76 years, and a lifelong resident of Hancock County, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at her residence.

She was born March 30, 1941 in Jamestown, Kentucky to the late Rev. Tony “T.W.” and Josie (Gossage) Polston.

Jeannie formerly operated a Bed & Breakfast in Shirley, Indiana, worked for RCA of Indianapolis, and was a truck driver. She was a charter member of the Countryside Christian Church, Shirley, and was currently attending Greenfield Christian Church. She was a Den-leader and Secretary for the Boy Scouts and a Team-mom for Boys Club of Greenfield. Those that knew Jeannie will smile when they remember her sassy spirit and lack of filter when she spoke what was on her mind.

She is survived by her loving children, Gary Ray (wife Kathy), James Dale “Jim” (wife Teri) both of Greenfield, Darla Marie (husband Les) Smoak of Greenfield, Timothy Lee “Tim” (wife Jamie) of New Castle, brothers, Tony D. (Georgia) Polston of Fairland, Glen D. Polston of Florida, Jackie Polston of Phoenix, Arizona, aunt, Lois Stephens, grandchildren; Cliff, Ryan, Amanda, Adam, Jeremy, Jeremy Lee, Chris, Crystal, Chris, Nick, Melia, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, husband, Ray Sweet in 2008, sisters, Doris Polston, Dorothy Neice and Verlene Hawk.

Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Curry’s Chapel Cemetery in Greenfield.
