Area students earn dean’s list honors, college degrees

HANCOCK COUNTY — Michael Morris, New Palestine, recently was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. To receive the honor, students must be enrolled in at least nine credit hours and earn a grade point average for 3.5 or higher.

Franklin College announces its 2017 graduates from the May 20 ceremony conducted on campus in Franklin. Savannah Blevins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Blevins of Wilkinson, received a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education. She received the Louise Cooprider Bowling Endowed Scholarship. Alexandria Colclazier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Colclazier of Greenfield, received a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry. She graduated summa cum laude. Emma Hagist, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hagist of New Palestine, received a bachelor of arts degree in exercise science. Brandon Lindman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Lindman of McCordsville, received a bachelor of arts degree in athletic training. He graduated cum laude. Joshua McDonald, son of Vance McDonald and Shyla Rather both of Greenfield, received a bachelor of arts degree in exercise science. Connor Shepler, son of Mark Shepler and Amanda Siler both of New Palestine, received a bachelor of arts degree in computer science. Bailey Willoughby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Willoughby of Greenfield, received a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics (applied).

Franklin College also announces its spring semester dean’s list. Students on the list must achieve a 3.5 or higher grade point average. Hancock County students making the list are Savannah R. Blevins, a senior, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Blevins of Wilkinson; Caitlyn M. Cherry, a senior, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Cherry of New Palestine; Carly M. Fernandes, a senior, is the daughter of David Fernandes of Beech Grove and Rebecca Fernandes of Greenfield; Tapanga S. Gauck, a junior, is the daughter of Bart Gauck of Milan and Tammy Gauck of Greenfield; Brandon G. Lindman, a senior, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Lindman of McCordsville; Marie K. Ostendorf, a sophomore, is the daughter of Mr. Steve Ostendorf of New Palestine; Matthew D. Powell, a sophomore, is the son of David and Kris Powell of Fortville; Marissa G. Riggs, a junior, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Riggs of Greenfield; Connor Shepler, a senior, is the son of Mr. Mark Shepler of New Palestine and Amanda Siler of New Palestine; Cassidy K. Cherry, a senior, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Cherry of New Palestine; Lauren M. DeSutter, a senior, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John DeSutter of Pittsboro; Lauren M. Harmon, a senior, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Harmon of Greenfield.

Marcy M. Hutchinson, New Palestine, made the 2017 spring semester president’s list for the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. To be on the president’s list, students must achieve a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

The University of Indianapolis has released its spring semester 2017 dean’s list for academic achievement. Dean’s list students must have completed at least 12 hours of classes and average a 3.7 or higher grade point average. Making the list are Addison Clouse from Cumberland; Lauren Bryant, Emily Crafton, Rachel Davis, Hannah Edwards, Regan Elsea, Tate Hall, Renee Hilkene, Rachel Irbe, Jennifer Massey, Christina Riley and Samantha Scheiter of Greenfield; Jorge Fonseca of McCordsville; Bryson Basaran, Shelby Lannan, Sarah Morris, Abigail Norman and Sarah Rose of New Palestine.
