Royals alumni volleyball games approaching

The Eastern Hancock alumni volleyball games are set July 25. The games will begin at 6:30 p.m. inside Eastern Hancock High School gymnasium.

Greenfield-Central youth volleyball camp this month

The Greenfield-Central youth volleyball camp runs July 25 to 27.

The clinic is open to players in first through eighth grades. The camp will be at Greenfield-Central High School.

Daily sessions for those in first through fifth grades start at 9 and end at 10:30 a.m. For those in sixth through eighth grades, the sessions start at 9 and conclude at 11 a.m.

The cost of the camp is $50 per participant and includes instruction on proper warmup, stretching, technique and preparation.

Royals golf fundraiser set for August

The Eastern Hancock baseball and softball golf outing will take place Aug. 26 at Hawk’s Tail of Greenfield.

The Florida Scramble event will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Registration is at 7 a.m. The cost is $60 per person and $240 per team (four players per team).

Prizes will be awarded to the first- and last-place teams along with other prizes. A portion of the proceeds will support the Eastern Hancock baseball and softball programs.

The deadline to registration is Aug. 18.

Fever fall to Sparks on the road

LOS ANGELES — Chelsea Gray scored 16 points, and Nneka Ogwumike added 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Sparks to an 80-62 home win against the Indiana Fever on Monday at Staples Center.

Briann January scored 12 points for Indiana. Candice Dupree and Erica Wheeler each added 11. Rookie Erica McCall, playing near her hometown of Bakersfield, Calif., netted a career-high eight points.

Organizations partner to celebrate college football legends

IRVING, Texas — The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced that the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will host the 13th Annual National Hall of Fame Salute on Jan. 1.

The event, which will take place at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, will utilize the Bowl to showcase the 2017 College Football Hall of Fame Class. The game will be nationally telecast on ESPN beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Prior to the game, a multi-day celebration for the inductees will take place in Atlanta, including a special public ceremony at the College Football Hall of Fame where the inductees will see their legendary accomplishments permanently immortalized.
