Nancy C. (Polley) Dorrel, 75, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born on August 24, 1941, in Hancock County, as the daughter of Charles E. and Jennie (Ramsey) Polley.
She graduated from New Palestine High School. Nancy married Marvin “Bud” L. Dorrel on October 23, 1960, in Greenfield. She worked in accounting for several different companies for many years. Nancy was a member of Shiloh Christian Church and Shelby County Western Riders.
She loved horses and attending rodeos. She also enjoyed bird watching and sightseeing on country routes. Her grandchildren meant everything to her and she loved them dearly.
Nancy is survived by her son, Lee (Winona) Dorrel of Greenfield; daughters, Alison (Brian) Ellison of Greenfield and Polly (Mark) Blake of Spiceland; sisters, Corrine Matlock and Margaret (Bob) Mitchell both of Greenfield; grandchildren, Christian, Colton and Connor Ellison, Brandon Dorrel, Lane, Cody and Austin Blake, and Sadie Hendrix; and friends, Joan and Bill Taylor of Morristown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Marvin “Bud” Dorrel.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 21, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, at the mortuary. Pastor Mike Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
