Mary Alice (Richards) Spinks, 93, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Born on August 12, 1923, in Bedford, Ind., as the daughter of John M. and Vernie (Bridwell) Richards. She married Orval R. Spinks on February 2, 1948, in Houston, Tx.
Survived by her daughters, Mary E. Stafford of Florida, and Jayne Erwin of Mexico; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vernie Richards; brothers, George Richards and Dr. John “Bus” Richards; sister, Clarice Ethridge; and grandson, Stephen.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield. A service will immediately follow. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 21, at Beech Grove Cemetery in Bedford. Fred Girdwood will be officiating.
