Royals youth volleyball camp starts soon

Eastern Hancock will conduct its Royals youth volleyball camp beginning Monday. The camp will be conducted for four days, ending Thursday.

The clinic will be conducted at Eastern Hancock High School (10320 E. County Road 250N, Charlottesville).

The camp is open to competitors in first through eighth grade at $40 per person. Training sessions for first through fourth graders will take place from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Practice for fifth through eighth graders will run from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m.

The volleyball camp is for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.

Cougar cross-country camp begins soon

The 2017 Greenfield-Central Junior High cross-country camp begins Monday and runs through Thursday.

Each session will be conducted from 8 to 10:30 a.m. daily at Brandywine Park.

The camp will include instructions on proper warmup, stretching, running technique, racing strategies, information on nutrition, goal setting, mental preparation and motivation.

The cost of the camp is $50 per runner. The fee includes a camp T-shirt, participation plaque, refreshments and prizes.

All participants must have a current physical on file with the school corporation to participate.

Pacers acquire Joseph in trade with Raptors

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Pacers announced Friday they have acquired 6-foot-3 guard Cory Joseph from the Toronto Raptors. In return, the Raptors receive the draft rights to Emir Preldzic. Those rights were obtained in a trade with Dallas in July of 2016.

Joseph played the last two seasons with Toronto and last season averaged 9.2 points and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor. He started 22 games for the injured Kyle Lowry and averaged 11.2 points and five assists.

A first-round pick (29th overall) of the San Antonio Spurs in the 2011 NBA Draft, Joseph spent four seasons there and was a member of their 2014 NBA championship team. For his career, he has averaged 6.8 points and 2.5 assists on 45 percent shooting.
