Pacers sign free agent forward Bogdanovic

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers announced Monday they have signed free agent forward Bojan Bogdanovic to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Bogdanovic recorded career highs during the 2016-17 regular season with 13.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in 81 total games with the Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards. After being traded to Washington in February, he averaged 12.7 points during the Wizards’ final 26 regular season games.

Bogdanovic also appeared in all 13 of Washington’s playoff games last season while averaging 8.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Race fans to receive Gordon bobblehead

INDIANAPOLIS — NASCAR fans, especially those of recently retired legend Jeff Gordon, have even more incentive to purchase tickets and other products for the Brickyard 400 on July 21 to 23 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Van Gundy named head coach of national team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — Former NBA head coach Jeff Van Gundy has been selected head coach of the USA Basketball men’s national teams that will compete in the FIBA AmeriCup 2017 (formerly known as the FIBA Americas Championship) and the FIBA World Cup Qualifying games.

Additionally, current NBA G League Northern Arizona Suns head mentor Ty Ellis and veteran international coach Mo McHone were named assistant coaches for the USA AmericCup Team.

Van Gundy will lead USA teams at the Aug. 25 to Sept. 3 FIBA AmeriCup 2017 and in the first four windows between November 2017 and September 2018 of the FIBA World Cup Qualifying games.

Pacers sign guard acquired in trade

The Indiana Pacers announced they have signed Edmond Sumner, the 52nd pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Sumner was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans and acquired in a draft night trade in exchange for cash considerations. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Sumner, a 6-6, 176-pound guard, played collegiately at Xavier where he had career averages of 11.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
