Nadine P. Spence, 78, of Knightstown, passed Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born January 20, 1939, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of Orville and Daisy (Richmond) Pendlum.

Nadine retired from Hancock Regional Hospital where she was a nurse’s aide. She had previously owned a beauty shop in Carthage and a bakery in Knightstown. She and her husband were beekeepers, sold honey and was a member of the Indiana Honey Bee Association. Nadine enjoyed gardening and selling the produce at the farmer’s market. She also enjoyed quilting and made beautiful quilts. She was an exquisite wood carver and was a member of the National Wood Carving Association. She attended the Knightstown Church of God.

In addition to her father, Nadine is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carl Spence of Knightstown; two sons, DeWayne (Mary) Spence of Maple Valley and Randy Spence of Knightstown; grandchildren, Holly Spence of Greenfield, Daniel Spence of Wilkinson, Justin Spence of Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Ashley (Jacob) Martin of Montrose, Co.; a sister, Marlene (Jim) Woodcock of Greenfield; three brothers, Jerry Lee (Nina) Pendlum of Athens, Ala., Mitchell (Carol) Pendlum of Greenfield and Roger Ray (Cindy) Pendlum of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Pendlum; a brother, Gilbert Pendlum; grandparents.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, July 7, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday.
