Charles Muegge, 94, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on December 25, 1922, in Indianapolis, as the son of William F. and Susie (Cartheuser) Muegge.

He graduated from Southport High School in 1940. He served in the Army during World War II. Charles married Maxine L. (Roudebush) and they celebrated over 70 years of marriage together.

He worked for Indiana Box Company for over 30 years and retired as a manager. Charles loved being outside mowing his grass, fishing and spending time with his family. He also loved attending auctions.

Survived by his sons, Stephen Muegge of Greenfield, David (Nancy) Muegge of Morristown, Greg (Debbie) Muegge of Greenfield and Jeff Muegge of Greenfield; brother, Fred (Bev) Muegge of Charlottesville; sister, Martha Turner of Greenfield; 12 grandchildren, David, Randall, Tina, Amy, Amber, Stacie, Shane, Zach, Nick, Joel, Nate and A.J.; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine Muegge; son, Dennis L. Muegge; daughters-in-law, Sydney Muegge and Lisa Muegge; great-granddaughter, Zoe Mae Muegge; sister, Margaret Lasley; and five brothers, Richard Muegge, Albert Muegge, Robert Muegge, Carl Muegge and William Muegge.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, at the mortuary. Pastor Danny Curry will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
