Shrine club awards $1,000 scholarship

GREENFIELD — At its May meeting, the Hancock County Shrine Club welcomed Mary Gibble, president of the Hancock County Community Foundation, who spoke about the Imagination Library program in the county, which provides free books to county children from birth to age 5.

Gibble also praised the club’s scholarship program, which this year awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Greenfield-Central High School graduating senior Samantha Stanley, who plans to attend Butler University and enter the medical field, according to a news release.

Club members discussed donations provided to local organizations, including a $100 donation to Meals on Wheels of Hancock County and $500 to the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center at Hancock Regional Hospital.
