Allan Duane Brooks

Allan Duane Brooks, 68, of Barberton, Ohio, passed away October 28, 2016, in Akron, OH. Born on August 17, 1948, in Indianapolis, as the son of Norris Ralph and Leawanna G. (Kirkpatrick) Brooks.

He graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1966. Allan served in the Airforce during the Vietnam War. He married Ava (Wilson) on June 8, 1979.

He worked as an RN for many years at various facilities before retiring. Allan enjoyed watching old movies, reading, and martial arts.

Survived by his wife, Ava, of Barberton, Ohio; sisters, Lynne (Bill) Guinn of Wilkinson, and Cinda (Leonard) Burgess of Ozark, Mo.; nieces and nephews, Brian (Stephanie) Guinn, Brenda (John) Conner, Angela (Matt) Brown, Carmen (Kevin) Green, Leah (Erik) Kiser, and Benjamin (Kathryn) Burgess; brother-in-law, Guy Wilson, Jr., of Barberton, Ohio; and many great-nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield. A celebration of life service will take place immediately following at 6 p.m. Jeff Lowder and Leonard Burgess will be officiating with military rites immediately following the service at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Midwest Hemophilia Association, by website at midwesthemophilia.org/donate/ or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
