Restaurant Inspections – June 15

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 8

Speedway

Location: 5972 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — do not store clean, sanitized utensils with those non-food items that are not sanitized, corrected; NC — clean walk-in cooler handle and door, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Subway

Location: 2668 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — do not put duct tape on handles of knives — makes surface not easily sanitized, corrected; NC — need to provide thermometer in reach-in cooler by drive-thru, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Jimmy John’s

Location: 1310 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Arby’s

Location: 1705 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — whipped cream at drive-thru must have ice surrounding product to maintain temperature, corrected; NC — must change gloves when changing tasks, wash hands and use gloves when handling ready-to-eat foods, corrected; NC — ice scoop needs to be stored out of ice to protect ice from contamination, corrected.

Speedway

Location: 2242 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — Canadian bacon removed from package needs to be date-marked, discarded/corrected; NC/R — after cleaning and sanitizing equipment/utensils should be air-dried before stacking, to be corrected by May 9; NC — need food thermometer provided and accessible at all times, to be corrected by Aug. 1; NC — corners of floors and where floor and walls meet need to be leaned to remove food debris, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

May 10

Pizza Hut

Location: 1010 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — food contact surfaces need to be clean to sight and touch, tongs and ladles at wing station are dirty and stored with clean utensils, corrected; NC/R — coving behind dish machine not sealed to wall, gaps are present, to be corrected by Aug. 1; NC — ice scoop must be stored in a clean and protected manner, corrected; NC — paper towels need to be available at all hand sinks, corrected.
