The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 16

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen

Location: 1981 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — person cooking raw chicken needs to wash hands after touching items soiled with raw chicken, before touching utensils’ handles/numbers on line, corrected; C — fries not being held hot enough, corrected.

Chicago’s Pizza

Location: 1031 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R – sani bucket too high in waitress/buffet area, corrected; NC – clean black build-up in places on floors and legs of equipment, to be corrected by Aug. 1; C/R – unmarked spray bottles, corrected.

Quality Inn and Suites

Location: 2270 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R – need food thermometer provided and accessible, to be corrected by Nov. 1; NC/R – all fruits with edible peels must be protected from contamination. After washing apples, apples should be wrapped or a utensil provided for consumer self-service, to be corrected by Nov. 1.

Tim’s Bakery

Location: P.O. Box 1, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R – clean rack storing equipment/dough cutters, tile backsplash around three-compartment sink needs to be cleaned and regrouted in places, to be corrected by Aug. 1; C/R – sanitizing solution in bucket is too strong, to be corrected by May 17; NC – repair caulking at hand sink and three-compartment sink, to be corrected by Aug. 1; C – hand sink must not be used for purposes other than hand washing, sink needs to be cleaned to remove residue/paint, corrected.

Kinsey’s Italian Cafe

Location: 6383 Broadway, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Location: 2265 Barrett Drive, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – utensils for food contact must be changed every four hours, corrected; NC – pans need to air dry before stacking for storage, to be corrected by May 18; C – raw hamburger and raw chicken should be stored separately to prevent cross contamination, corrected; C – sanitizing solution in sani buckets tested too high, corrected; NC – store utensils/spoons with handle up to protect lip contact surface, corrected.

Wooden Bear Brewing Company

Location: 21 W. North St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – spray bottles with chemicals need to be labeled with common name, corrected.

Hometown Classic Pizza

Location: 12 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – repair seals on pizza prep tables and wall behind pizza oven (scheduled), to be corrected by Sept. 1.
