Dr. Harry Thomas Hensley

Dr. Harry Thomas Hensley, 75, of Greenfield passed away on June 10, 2017 from an acute leukemia. Born to Howard V. and Evelyn L. Hensley (Kent) on December 29, 1941, in Beech Grove.

Dr. Hensley graduated from the IU School of Medicine in 1967. He completed a rotating internship at Methodist Hospital Indianapolis in 1968. Harry served two years in the Air Force attached to the Army and served one year in Vietnam.

He had a family practice in the Oaklandon area from 1970 until 2007. Dr. Hensley attended patients at Hancock Regional Hospital for 24 years and served on various committees. He was certified by the American Board of Family Practice in 1976. The last 12 years of his family practice were at Geist Family Medicine and Pediatrics. He is a long time active member of Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church.

Harry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon J. (Reinoehl) Hensley; three children, Jenna B. Coleman, Erin K. Hensley and Curtis S. Hensley; and eight grandchildren; his sister, Sandra Rousseau; and his brother, Howard Bruce Hensley. He was loved by family and friends and will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, at the Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to service.

His body was donated to the IU School of Medicine.
