Betty Ruth (Robb) McCleerey, 87, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. Born on September 21, 1929, in Terre Haute, Ind., to the late James C. and Anna (Wilson) Robb.

Betty graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1948 and would continue her education at Franklin College where she would receive a Bachelor’s Degree, and at Indiana University eventually receiving her Master’s Degree in Education. She married the love of her life E.C. “Mac” McCleerey and spent her years as a elementary school teacher at Brandywine Elementary from 1956-1960 and at Greenfield Elementary Schools from 1966-1989. In 1974 she was awarded the Outstanding Elementary School Teacher of America award. Betty was a member of the Tri Kappa Sorority, Pi Phi Sorority, and the Greenfield 1 st Presbyterian Church.

Surviving Betty is her son, Steve McCleerey of Greenfield; daughter, Ann (Daniel) Lewis of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two grandchildren, Dianna and Andrew Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Betty in death are her parents listed above; husband, E.C. “Mac” McCleerey; sister, Jean York; and brothers, David and Robert Robb.

Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to Noon on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Greenfield 1st Presbyterian Church, 116 W South St, Greenfield. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 12:30 p.m., at Park Cemetery in Greenfield, 621 S. State St, Greenfield.

Memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be sent to the Greenfield 1st Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
