Schedule changes announced for semistate

The start times for Saturday’s Class 3A Jasper Semistate have been moved.

New Palestine was originally scheduled to play Edgewood in the first semistate semifinal at 11 a.m. They are now playing in the second semifinal at 3 p.m.

Evansville Memorial and Silver Creek will play at 1 p.m. in the semifinal as originally planned. The championship will remain at 7 p.m.

Hoosiers Reunion Classic scheduled

Several of the state’s top senior basketball players will converge at Knightstown’s Historic Hoosier Gym on Friday for the Hoosier Reunion All-Star Classic.

The 12th annual girls-boys doubleheader will begin at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow at approximately 8 p.m.

The boys coaches are Travis Daugherty of Mt. Vernon and Shenandoah’s Dave McCollough. Coaching the girls teams are Corie West of New Castle, Bryan Graham of Triton Central and Pat McKee of Columbus North.

Greenfield-Central’s Madison Wise, an Iowa State recruit, and Katie Helgason, a Ball State recruit, have been invited to compete in the girls game as part of the Hickory Husker roster.

Wise, a finalist for the 2017 Indiana Miss Basketball award, will be joined by Indiana Miss Basketball recipient Karissa McLaughlin of Homestead as part of the Huskers.

Mt. Vernon’s Michael Ertel, a Louisiana-Monroe recruit, will play for coach Daugherty one last time, as part of the Hickory Huskers.

Indiana All-Star games set for next week

The 2017 Indiana All-Stars begin their four-game tour next week with a pair of exhibition games against the Indiana Junior All-Stars.

The first girls-boys doubleheader warmup against the juniors is set for Tuesday at New Albany. The second will be at Plainfield on Thursday, June 8. Both exhibitions begin at 6 p.m.

Greenfield-Central’s Madison Wise and Mt. Vernon’s Michael Ertel were named Indiana All-Stars and will compete in both events.

The duo will face the Kentucky All-Stars later this month on June 10 in Indianapolis at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and on June 11 at Central Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, Ky.

The doubleheader on June 10 begins at 5 p.m. The games start at 1 p.m. on June 11.

Marauders volleyball camp approaching

Mt. Vernon High School is conducting a youth volleyball camp on Monday and Thursday, June 8.

The camp will provide instruction to boys and girls in the fundamentals of volleyball and will be instructed by the Mt. Vernon High School coaching staff with members of the varsity team.

For campers in second through fifth grade, the sessions will run from 9 to 10:15 a.m. For sixth through eighth graders, training will be from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
