Jean Alice Strough, 89, of Pendleton, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis. Born March 7, 1928, in Elwood, Ind., to the late Milford and Mabel (Webb) Hunter.
Jean graduated from Markleville High School in 1946. In 1947, Jean married Merril Strough, who preceded her in death on January 24, 2012. She devoted her life to caring for her daughter, Becky, who passed away on September 22, 2014. Jean liked to tend garden and feed all critters on her back patio. She was a member of Fortville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Dick (Gwen) of Fortville and Ronald (Terre) of McCordsville; daughter, Rita Doty of Pendleton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Dick) Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and daughter, Becky, Jean was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and William: and sisters, Anna, Mary and Donna.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, with visitation beginning at Noon at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
