Mary L. Kraus Wells, 93, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Brandywine Golden Living Center in Greenfield. Born on January 17, 1924, to Clarence and Nellie (Tyner) Shadley.
Mary graduated from Westland High School and spent most of her career working as an administrative secretary for Kenneth F. Orr Co. and the Lineback & Lewis Law Firm. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a past Grand Organist. Mary enjoyed watching basketball on TV, especially the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Hoosiers. She was a devoted member of Faith United Methodist Church in Greenfield where she also played the organ for almost 30 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Turner of Greenfield; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding Mary in death are her parents; first husband of 47 years, Max Everett Kraus; second husband, Marion Wells; daughter, Suzanne Johnson; and brother, Ralph Shadley.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Faith United Methodist Church, 328 N Swope St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastors Mike Hopper and Brent Smith officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
