Robert F. Fields, 77, of Greenfield, peacefully passed away in the home he was born in with his loving wife and family by his side on Monday, May 22, 2017. He was born on May 25, 1939, in Hancock County, as the son of Robert D. and Floe M. (Lowder) Fields.

He graduated from Hancock Central in 1956. Bob married Lynn (Frazier) on December 11, 1961, in Celina, Tenn.

He was the owner and operator of Fields Auto Parts since 1959. Bob was also the former president and co-owner of Anderson Speedway for 20 years. He was the first American Speed Association (ASA) Champion and first driver to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at Mt. Lawn Speedway in New Castle. He was also the winningest driver at Anderson Speedway and Mt. Lawn Speedway. Bob was a very giving and generous man who helped many in need. He and his wife enjoyed numerous Vegas get-aways.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lynn Fields of Greenfield; sons, Bobby (Shelly) Fields and Rusty (Ramona) Fields both of Greenfield; daughters, Brandy (Keith) Wetli of Greenfield and Cindy (Bruce) Whitaker of Bloomington; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Rick Fields.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, and from Noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 26, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 26, at the mortuary. Pastor Lenell Jordan, Sr. will be officiating. Burial will follow at Simmons Cemetery in Wilkinson.
