Grand opening events at new Meijer through June

McCORDSVILLE — Cele- brations surrounding the grand opening of the Meijer superstore at 6391 W. Broadway St., McCordsville continue through June. The remaining scheduled events are:

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 20: McCordsville Family Fun Day. Family-friendly games and activities.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 27: Branded giveaways and toy demonstrations from Duracell and Mattel.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 28: McCordsville Kids Fun Festival. Face painting, air brush tattoos, balloon animals, petting zoo and more.

June 1 through June 28: enter for a chance to win one of 10 $500 Meijer gift cards.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 3: Hamlet, the Purina mascot, will appear for a “Growling great day with Purina.”

2 p.m. and 4 p.m. June 11: McCordsville Jump with Jill. Rock and roll nutrition entertainment, giveaways and fun family recipes.

Commissioners celebrate development week

GREENFIELD — Hancock County Commissioners recognized the 91st anniversary of the International Economic Development Council and named 2017 “The Year of the Economic Developer.”

Brad Armstrong, county commissioners president, gave a copy of a proclamation to the Hancock Economic Development Council.

He said the county recognized May 8-13 as “Economic Development Week” to remind individuals of the importance of supporting the expansion of career opportunities and improving quality of life.

Economic Development Week is an event created by the International Economic Development Council to celebrate the achievements of economic developers.
