GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Public Library board recently bade farewell to two members who had served 16-year terms.

Beverly Gard and Dr. Ted Gabrielsen served their last library board meetings in April and May, respectively, after joining the board in May 2001.

Gabrielsen thanked the board members for the opportunity to serve the community, reflecting on the long hours and twice-weekly meetings that went on during the years the board was working to build the main branch building 10 years ago.

“It’s been my joy to be a part of the library board,” he said. “It’s been a good time.”

Library officials honored the board members with plaques thanking them for their service on two of the flagpoles erected near the library’s main entrance.

Gard said she believes the Hancock County Public Library is incredible and that she has every confidence the board will carry on doing quality work in the community after she leaves.

Director Dave Gray said the library’s staff members wanted to do something visual to express their appreciation to Gard and Gabrielsen.

“Your leadership and guidance over the years has been incredible,” he said.
